David Brinkley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Congleton Funeral Home and Cremations - Greenville on Feb. 14, 2024.
I have longed for sweet peace and for faith to increase and have earnestly, fervently prayed. But cannot have rest or be perfectly blessed until all the altar is laid.
On February 13, 2024, Mr. David Lee Brinkley, departed this life to be with our Lord and Savior.
He was born October 4, 1954 to the late Junious Brown and Christine Brinkley in Spring Hope, NC.
David attended Southern Nash High School in Rocky Mount, NC. He moved to Durham, NC where he worked as a transporter. David moved to Wilmington, NC and worked at UNCW-Wilmington, NC as a chef, where he met his wife, Joyce.
David worked at Walmart as a Deli Cook for twenty-three years at several locations before retiring. David and Joyce moved to Winston-Salem and later joined Praise Assembly Church Ministry under the leadership of Reverend Johnny York.
David is survived by his wife, Joyce Faircloth-Brinkley; two stepsons, William C. Dixon, Jr (Shaunta) of Winston Salem, NC, Tommy Dixon of Tampa, Florida; three grandsons, Tamir Selby of Wilmington, NC, Ty Lyles and Jalen Lyles of Winston Salem, NC; one granddaughter, Brianna Dixon of Farmville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Brooklyn Dixon of Farmville, NC; one brother-in-law, Jesse Faircloth (Stephanie) of Raleigh, NC; one sister-in-law, Ernestine Barrett of Greenville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Remembering is an act of resurrection. Each repetition, a vital layer of mourning in memory of those we are sure to meet again.
