David R. Brown, 84, of Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday December 28, 2023.
He was born in Turtle Creek in 1939 to James and Mary Brown. At a very early age he displayed a great curiosity for learning which served him well as he earned his undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of Pittsburgh and continued his education at Duquesne University School of Law. David enjoyed a long and distinguished legal career which began in 1967 with Litman Litman Harris & Brown before moving on to Sherrard German & Kelly, and then practicing on his own until 2022. He was known for being a pragmatic individual respected by his peers with a reputation of fairness. Outside of his work, David and his wife, Debra Walsh Brown, were inseparable. Many a week started Sunday night with a trip to Morton's for some fine wine and blue cheese fries. It was easy to spot their table as it was constantly surrounded by staff and friends. They were such a fixture that David had his own special lighting above his favorite table. David and Debbie shared a passion for travel. Eclectic cruise schedules saw them visiting Alaska, the Baltic States, Europe and the Mediterranean, but it was in New York City where they found a second home at The Plaza Hotel. The Browns were so well known by staff that they shared pub crawls, dining, and even wedding showers. David was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his wife, Debra Walsh Brown and his children, Michelle (Jason) Templer, Adrienne Austin, Aaron (Katherine) Brown, Eden Kenyon and Jeremy Brown. Surviving grandchildren are Lee Michael Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Shelbie Thomas, Jack (Julia) Austin, Jeffrey Austin, Gaelin David Brown, Deacon Brown, Samantha Kenyon and Jackson Kenyon as well as five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons Inc., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Wednesday January 3rd from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral Thursday January 4th, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral, Oakland 10a.m. At the request of the family, EVERYONE PLEASE GATHER AT CHURCH.
