It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father David B. Brown, Sr. of Dracut on the morning of March 12, 2025 at Lowell General Hospital. Born in Waltham, MA on November 16, 1929.
He was the son of the late Millicent and Charles Brown. He met the love of his life Joan and they married on January 30, 1951, a beautiful union just shy of 74 years together. He received his education in the Waltham school system, and went on to a career as a Machinist/Tool and Die Inspector at various companies including Raytheon and Digital. In his youth he was a member of the DeMolay, and he served in the National Guard Reserves in the 1950's.
He was also the best Handyman. Everyone knew if you needed something fixed Dad could do it whether it was plumbing, electric or your car. He spent many a weekend with his sons, a car, and the Chilton's manual. He and Joan loved to dance. They were members of the Alpine Squares square dancing group, and spent many a Saturday night with friends dancing to the big band sounds of Angie Bergamini. He was also a great dancing instructor for his girls whether it was the Alley Cat or the Waltz for their weddings. Joan and Dave enjoyed many years "Up Nawth" at their chalet in the White Mountains, especially sitting on the porch with a margarita watching beautiful sunsets together. Yearly visits to Florida with friends, cruises with friends and family, casinos, family gatherings, and in the old days trips with their six kids in the old station wagon. He was a lover of animals, and will sadly be missed by his and Joan's cat Missy.
David is survived by five loving children: Cheryl Floyd of Hudson, NH, David Brown, Jr. and his wife Christine of Pelham, NH, Valerie Ayer and her Life Partner Robert Ryder of Tewksbury, MA, Glenn Brown and his wife Marilou of Appleton, WI and Judith Campbell and her husband Kenneth of Hudson, NH. Predeceased by his daughter Marilyn Gotzamanis. Grandchildren Rebecca Dudley, Jesse Floyd, Sr., Nicole Tomaselli and her husband Brian, Kellie DeCalogero, Robert Ayer III, Hillary Ayer, Chelsey Lerdahl and her husband Michael, Laney Brown, James Gotzamanis and his wife Shannon, Nicholas Gotzamanis and his fianc Nicole, and Colby Campbell. Seven Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. He was reunited in Heaven with Joan who passed 12/9/24, their beautiful daughter Marilyn Gotzamanis, two Great Great Grandchildren, his parents, siblings, and many loved ones and friends. He and Joan are deeply missed. Thank you for the wonderful life you gave each of us.
