David Allen Calvert, Sr. of Gilmer, Tx passed away February 24, 2024. He was born in Pittsburg, Texas, on August 30, 1951, to Frank and Dixie (Henry) Calvert.
David served as a DPS officer in Canton, Texas, for 11 years before transitioning into a successful career as an Insurance Agent with Unitrin Life Insurance Co., to which he devoted 29 years of service.
A proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the Army, David honored his country through his unwavering dedication and sacrifice. His military service was a testament to his courage and love for his nation. Outside of his professional and military accomplishments, David was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge. His faith and sense of community were central to his identity and brought him closer to those who shared his beliefs.
David was preceded in death by his father, Frank Calvert and sister, Janet Williams.
Those left to cherish his memories is his wife, Patsy of Gilmer; mother, Dixie Calvert of Gilmer; son, Allen Calvert and wife Brittany of Katy; daughters, Courtney Roman and husband Jason of Shreveport, Kandis Lane of Rockwall; brother, Tony Calvert and wife Leanne of Gilmer; sister, Elaine Davis of Gilmer; 9 grandchildren, Jake Calvert, Nathan Lane, Mason Lane, Brooklyn Bowman, Lexie Lane, Easton Bowman, Hud Calvert, Knox Calvert & Kennedy "Keke" Calvert; 6 great grandchildren, Avery Calvert, Rowan Calvert, Jimmy Lane, Danny Calvert, Jhett Lane & Jackie Mae Calvert.
Services to honor and remember David Allen Calvert, Sr. will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer for visitation on February 28th from 6-8pm, followed by a Funeral Service at Gilmer Church of Christ on February 29th starting at 2pm with Mr. John Richard Spencer and Bro Ken Loyd officiating.
