David Carver, 56, of West Mansfield, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2025, peacefully, with family by his side, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief illness.
One of six children, David was born November 26, 1968, in Sandusky to David R. and Susan M. (Schlabach) Carver. A 1986 graduate of North Union High School, he earned his STNA certificate and began his career of working in the health care industry, something he was truly passionate about. A natural caregiver, he was a partner of Legends, Lift & Transport and worked locally at Prestige Gardens and Monarch Nursing Facility before his current position with Kenton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
David loved the Lord and was a man of strong faith. He boldly shared the Gospel Story and wanted everyone to know the love of the Lord. This was evident in David who once gave the shoes off his feet to a man in need and at another time emptied his freezer and gave all of his food to a young mother who needed to feed her five children. As a caregiver it was important to David that all of his patients be treated with dignity and respect. David had a powerful prayer life and cried out to the Lord not just for individual needs but for the Salvation of Everyone.
A born storyteller, he had an ornery side that was always evident in his great sense of humor, even during his illnesses. A longtime sports enthusiast, David enjoyed rooting on the Ohio State Buckeyes and his beloved Bengals and '76er's, and he certainly enjoyed his time fishing when he could. He loved all kinds of music, and could be found jamming to praise and worship music before tuning into his favorite rock bands.
While he held a deep love for caregiving, nothing meant more to him then time spent with his family. He loved praying and jamming to music with his kids, and "attempting" to teach them how to cook – one of the things he was very good at. He had memorable vacations with Bonnie and the kids in Tennessee and North Carolina at the Smoky Mountains National Park, where his kids were able to jump off the same rock he and his siblings did as kids, splashing into the water. It was an incredible memory that each of them will hold dear for the rest of their lives - his family will miss him deeply.
David will be deeply missed by friends and family, but we have Hope in knowing that he is not gone but only moved on from life in his earthly body to his eternal body in Heaven.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4
David is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, whom he married March 16, 1998, the former Bonnie E. Durst; children Ciarra Sutphin, Jordan (Kelsie VanHorn) Carver and Hannah Carver; adored grandchildren Rosie and Bella; step-children Kellie Myers and Jason Myers; siblings Beth Carver and Ben (Tonya) Carver; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Along with his parents, David and Susan, he was also preceded in death by siblings Michael Carver, Tammy Carver, and Rachel Carver.
Family will greet friends from 11am – 1 pm Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Rock Church, 1003 N. Maple St., Marysville, where funeral services to celebrate David's life will begin promptly at 1 pm with his brother, Rev. Ben Carver, officiating. Burial will follow at York Center Cemetery next to his mother, Susan.
