David Earl Cobble, 83, of Silsbee, died March 8, 2025. He was born on August 29, 1941, in Silsbee, to Frances Upshaw Cobble and Cecil Earl Cobble.
He met the love of his life, Karen Derr, on the cafeteria steps of Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas. It was love at first sight and they married on February 9, 1962. They began their life in Beaumont, where David began working for First National Bank and in 1974, moved his family to Silsbee where he continued his forty-five year banking career.
David had a heart for the Lord and prioritized his life with God first, followed by family and community. He was a very strong Christian and a man of integrity with a gentle spirit. He loved helping people and cherished the relationships he built with them.
He served in every leadership position in the church. He also served in many civic leadership positions. He loved to teach and spent many years teaching Sunday School to youth and young married couples. He also enjoyed teaching American Institute of Banking classes and told his students the first day how much he loved Snickers. A never fail, he always came away with lots of Snickers.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Karen Derr Cobble; son, Greg Cobble and his wife, Amy; daughters, Leslie Pember and her husband, Craig; and Carrie Krall and her husband, Jason. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Gretchen Lumpkin and her husband, Jonathan; Meredith Cobble; Lauren Pember; Sarah Pember; Katie Ernst and her husband, Brandon; Evan Krall; and Andrew Krall; as well as two great-granddaughters, Emma Ernst and Josephine Lumpkin. Survivors also include his sister, Carole Wills and her husband, Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; his dear grandson, Matthew Ryan Cobble; his sister, Cecile Cobble Fritz; as well as Karen's parents, siblings, and their spouses.
The family would like to thank his wonderful and dedicated caregivers, Alma Taylor, Tina Carmenar, Ladonna Westbrook, and Compassion Hospice.
A gathering of Mr. Cobble's family and friends will be 5:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
