Seekonk – David E. Corbitt, Sr., 88, formerly of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Madsen) Corbitt for sixty-five beautiful years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward and Effie (Bell) Corbitt.
David graduated from Gorton High School in Warwick and relocated to Seekonk in the early 1960's. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1959-1965. David was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church, Seekonk, for nearly twenty years. He worked as a general contractor for many years, and was the proprietor of David E. Corbitt Builder, Seekonk. David built his first home at the young age of eighteen and generously shared his trade skills with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing coffee with friends at the coffee shop, oil painting, golfing and was a skilled calligrapher. Above all, David enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Corbitt, Jr. of Attleboro, MA and Timothy Corbitt and his wife, Tina, of Reading, MA; five grandchildren, Christian, Katie and her husband, Nick, Patrick, Michael and Sarah; two sisters, Ruth Staugaard of New Hampshire and Dorothy "Dot" Barker of Maine; his beloved cat, Phoebe and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Ralph and Robert Corbitt.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Services on Saturday, June 14th at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Ave., Seekonk. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, Pawtucket. Online condolences and photo sharing welcomed at www.trippfuneralhome.com
