David Ray Decker, 67, of Jasper, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Hillcrest Home in Harrison, surrounded by his family.
A son of Stephen Edward Decker and Hazel Berniece Adams, he was born September 9, 1957, in Casper, Wyoming. After joining the Army Reserve and completing high school, he married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Vironet, on March 19, 1983, in Jasper. He worked for many years as a deputy Sheriff for Newton County, and as a truck driver. He was a member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Harrison.
David loved to fish with his loved ones, work on cars with his brothers, play dominos and chess, and visit with his family and friends. He had a passion for all types of music, especially outlaw country, and was a musician himself, finding enjoyment and peace in playing the guitar. He also loved singing with friends and family and would often write songs for his family and friends to enjoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Charles "Tiny" and Stephen Albert Decker.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Decker; one daughter, Meghan Decker Bowling and her husband, Kyle; two brothers, Claud Edward and Clyde Morris Decker; three nieces, Georgeanna (Ricky) Bernice Greenhaw, Stacy, and Crystal; four nephews, Stephen, Wayne, C. J., and Jason; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Home at 1111 Maplewood Road, Harrison, Arkansas 72601, and Three Wishes for Ruby's Residents at 216 S Pine St, Harrison, Arkansas 72601.
