Gary W. Decker

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary W. Decker, 80 on October 11, 2025. Gary was born on January 12, 1945, in Vincennes the son of Maurice and Mildred (Turpin) Decker.

Gary was a proud graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He spent his days as a dedicated groundskeeper at the Vincennes Elks Country Club, where he took great pride in his work.

Outside of work, Gary had a passion for anything with an engine-he loved working on cars and was an enthusiastic drag racing fan. 

Gary is survived by his sons, Scott Decker and his wife Melinda of Vincennes, Dewayne Decker and his wife Corinna of Winnebago, MN; brother, Mike Decker and his wife Karen of Bruceville; and his grandchildren, Aiden Decker, Ameila Decker and Henry Decker. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Mildred Decker and five siblings, Earl, Beverly, Paul, Alfred and Steve Decker.

A graveside service will be held to celebrate Gary's life at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery on October 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Tony Ernst officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Gary and his family.
