Funeral services for John Terrill Decker, 62, of Ferriday, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 1pm with Bro. James Chaffin officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park in Sicily Island, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12noon until service time at 1pm.
John was born on Thursday, October 10, 1963 in Delhi, LA and passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Alexandria, LA. A name that's truly unforgettable. Johnny always had to put on a show wherever he was - center of attention is an understatement, but that's exactly where he shined the most. Always telling jokes, he probably thought every "Little Johnny" story was written about him - and knowing Johnny, he probably rewrote a few of them too.
He loved his kids and his family, but nothing compared to the love he had for his grandbabies. They brought out a side of Johnny most people never got to see - the soft, gentle light of his world.
Some might say Johnny was "rough around the edges," but beneath that exterior was a man of many talents and a heart of gold. He loved to draw, write, and could build just about anything. If you needed a handyman, Johnny was your guy - as long as he could do it his way, and only his way.
One thing's for sure - Johnny lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. A man of many lives, he truly lived through it all. And in true Johnny fashion, he went out with a big bang - on his birthday, no less. He left this world as both a legend and a hero. Because let's face it - no one but Johnny could ever pull that off.
He is reunited with his parents, James Floyd Decker and Joy Terrill Decker.
Those left behind to cherish John's memory are his daughters, Linda Holley & her husband Heath and Amanda Evans; son, Justin Buchanan; niece, more like his daughter, BJ Newman; brother, Tommy Decker & his wife Susie; sisters, Brenda Coates and Sandy Decker; brother, James Butler; grandchildren, Adayln Grace Holley, Miranda Evans, and Brandon Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring John as pallbearers are Tommy Decker, James Butler, BJ Newman, Jamie Decker, Heath Holley, and Tony Thornhill.
