Mary E. Studley, 86, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away at Gentry Park Memory Care Unit, Bloomington, Indiana on August 14, 2025. Mary was born on August 22, 1938, to Ralph B. and Mary C. (Haines) Studley in Vincennes, Indiana.
Mary is a 1956 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and attended First United Methodist Church in Vincennes. Mary spent many years as a nanny for the children of several families in Vincennes. She also worked at Langdon’s Casual Shop in downtown Vincennes. Mary was a valued staff member at the Knox County Public Library for over 40 years. She and her stepmother, Wilma Studley, enjoyed shopping as a favorite pastime. Many of their trips were to central Indiana where they visited several malls every fall in search of Christmas gifts for friends and family. Two of their longer trips together were a bus trip to the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN and a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
Mary was an avid Indiana University Basketball fan through thick and thin her entire life. She once gave the head coach some advice on player assignments which garnered her two courtside tickets to an Assembly Hall game.
Surviving Mary are her brother, Steve Studley (Penny) of Bloomington, IN, sister, Susan Caldwell (Brian) of Kokomo, Indiana; nieces and nephews Stacey Studley of Bloomington, IN, Andy Studley (Florence) of Laveen, AZ, Lauren Britt (Connor) of Noblesville, IN, Bradley (Amy) Caldwell of Speedway, IN, Mark Denney of St. Clair Shores, MI, and Marilyn Denney-Cardona, Jacksonville, FL.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Julia Ann Denney, her nephew Mike Denney, and her stepmother Wilma Studley.
Visitation for Mary will be held August 21, 2025, at Goodwin-Sievers Family Funeral Home 524 Broadway St. Vincennes, IN from noon to 2 pm. A funeral service will follow visitation at 2 pm . Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to one of the following: Knox County Public Library or Dalmatian Club of America Foundation.
