David J. Devine, age 80, of Greene Twp., passed away at his home on Monday, November 10, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Erie on October 13, 1945, he was a son of the late Henry Jackson Devine, Sr., and Beatrice (Bent) Devine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Jackson Devine Jr.
David graduated from Wattsburg High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, where he was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island. He was a proud member of the Plumbers Union Local #333, #47 and #27. He finished his career by retiring in 2000 from the VA Medical Center where he worked in the Engineering Department. He was a member of the Presque Isle Corvette Club for over 50 years and a longtime parishioner of St. Boniface Catholic Church. David relished his time in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed woodworking, and was a true car enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Mroz) Devine, their children, Jennifer Devine Bond (Mike Longo) and Timothy Devine (Denise) all of Erie; one grandson, Matthew David Bond, whom he was very proud of. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Kolbrun Devine, Geraldine Gambatese, Christine Bayle, and Gail Wellman, along with brother-in-law Richard Bayle, several nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and caregivers of UPMC - Family Hospice - for their care and support during this difficult time.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 1:00 PM at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 9367 Wattsburg Rd. Full military honors will follow.
