David Duerden Obituary
David Charles Duerden, loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024. David was born on December 21, 1966, in Helena, Montana. He was adopted by Verle and Leone (Winegar) Duerden at the age of one month. What a joy he was to his new loving parents and seven siblings! Oh how they doted on him! He attended school in Casper, Wyoming and later graduated from Layton High School in 1985.
During David’s life he made many friends and loved to help his family. He worked many years for the family business, Coast to Coast in Kaysville, Utah and at Fish Lake, Utah. David was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved hunting and fishing. Any fishing with his father, especially ice fishing, was a favorite pastime. He also loved archery, shooting, boating, and fast cars, especially Thunderbirds.
He will be remembered for his beautiful artwork, especially his pencil sketch masterpieces; his skill at bowling; and his love of cooking. Dear memories remain of the special meals he made and shared with others; of his loving generous nature and his wit and humor. He was a loyal friend with a big heart and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Leone (Winegar) Duerden and his siblings, Verle and Regan Duerden, Parma and Leonard Routson, Maxine and Kris Christensen, Doug and Julie Duerden, Diana and Scott Johnson, Donna and John Ames. He is preceded in death by his father, Jay Verle Duerden Sr., and his brother, William Richard Duerden. The three of them are together once again, enjoying a lot of good laughs. Until we meet again David, we will be missing those big bear hugs.
A memorial will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 380 South Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. A family and friends prayer meeting with be held preceding the service, at 10 a.m. in the Relief Society room.
