David Edwards Obituary
David Edwards, beloved brother, father, husband, and grandfather, passed away on July 19, 2024. Born on November 9, 1951, to the late William C. Sr. and Lois Edwards, David was also preceded in death by his brother, William C. Edwards Jr. David is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Edwards; daughter, Theresa Edwards (Greg Jennings) of Terre Haute; son, Lloyd Edwards (Brittany Leeds) of Bagdad, FL; and his cherished bonus daughters, Heather Mericle Jackson (TJ Lovell) of Whitestown, IN, and Stephanie McDaniel (Jaycee White) of Cincinnati, OH. He adored his grandchildren: Ryne Goodwin, Madison Edwards, Avery Goodwin, Jamal White, Camden Jackson, and John Jennings. David is also survived by his sister, Patricia "Patty" (Edwards) Cottom, and brother, Robert "Bobby" Edwards, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A proud member of the class of 1969 at Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute, David began his career working at Sheridan Park Pool and Canteen. While still in high school, he was selected to design construction blueprints for lunchrooms, which were used by Canteen to install their snack and beverage machines. This early achievement was followed by work with 7-Up and Dr. Pepper. David built a long and successful career in truck driving, known by his CB handle "Cold Turkey." He was employed by several companies, including Commercial Lovelace (CL), Underwood, Conway, Linde, and Trulite Glass. Additionally, he served as an aircraft dispatcher for Emory Worldwide and Purolator Airlines. David was passionate about volunteering and had a deep commitment to firefighting, proudly serving with the Wayne Township Fire Department. He was also known for his commitment to the Grace Gala Special Needs Prom, where he volunteered his time as the shoe shiner, taking much pride in fulfilling this role. David also volunteered often for the Loyal Veteran Battalion. His legacy of service and dedication to his community will be remembered by all who knew him. A loving family man and dedicated community member, David Edwards will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A very special thank you to Pam Truitt, Dr. Gregory Durm, and the oncology team with IU Simon Cancer Center for providing care to our loved one. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt Pleasant Church (3050 E. Davis Dr, Terre Haute, IN 47802 or in care of Grace Gala (memo line)) or via [Grace Gala Memorial Fund](https://bit.ly/gracegalamemorialfund). Deer Dr, Terre Haute, IN, from 12:00 pm-4:00
