David Ellefsen Obituary
1947 ~ 2024
Dave began as a blur of energy that sparked on February 3, 1947 but whose light ceased on July 28, 2024 at the University of Utah Hospital. He was born in Salt Lake City, a son of Frank and Katherine Ellefsen, awesome brother of John and Katie, one great dad of daughter Sage. He graduated from East High School with a talent (!) for basketball, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and later a Master of Library Science degree from Emporia State University.
Dave enjoyed an extraordinary life of love, adventure, work, travel, play, laughter and decades-long friendships, exemplifying the Viking Heart (Herman) of "not giving in but giving back."
He loved engaging in politics (please Vote!), staying informed via NYT, books and magazines, etc, that showed he was a "deep thinker with a kind heart"--a friend wrote.
Maintaining his health was always a priority: working out, running regularly, eating well. But while he had conquered prostate cancer his colon ultimately compromised his life.
His family and friends are heartbroken, awe-struck at his continuous courage and inspired by his example to stride out, seeking what comes next. And always with love.

Soooo many good memories and adventures with Dave over the years. I'm really going to miss him.
We had some fun times camping, floating rivers, hiking and just hanging out. Good friends like Dave are rare and special. We laughed a lot.

Camping with David and my dog, Sarah. Sarah throws up in the car, it's rainy, dark and cold. Davis is as calm and serene as always. Sarah runs away but makes it back to the tent and I commented that the whole family is here now and all is well. He thought that was the funniest thing he ever heard from me and we always had a great laugh for all these years.
I.will miss his kindness and grace. He was a good man and a good friend.
