David Earl Elston, 36, of Blakeslee, PA, passed away on September 19, 2024 of natural causes.
David was born February 27, 1988, in Bronx, NY, the son of David E. Elston, III and Patricia Womack.
David graduated from Pocono Mountain East High School in 2008.
David worked as a camp counselor at Full Gospel Tabernacle Bread of Life Christian. David loved the children and would say those were his kids. He looked forward to each summer as he knew some children would come back and some new children would come as well as counselors. He worked here for 18 years, and you can count how often he missed work. For him to miss work, it was due to his health.
David especially loved cooking, bowling, eating, watching his Tyler Perry movies, the cooking shows, and Family Feud with Steve Harvey. If you know David, you know his favorite movie was Rush Hour and Matilda. David was able to tell you what car was what and who it belonged to.
David was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle Bread Of Life Church Effort, PA (Pastor Mays) where he became King David, Deacon In Training and would go anywhere and everywhere to attend a church service from PA, NY, NJ, MD, bowling tournaments, men fellowship events ; The Life Center Stroudsburg, PA (Pastor Womack) where he was the usher and greeter and served on the homeless committee team, Heavenly Outreach Global Ministries East Stroudsburg, PA (Pastor Richardson) where he participated in the community outreach with the young adults from PA to NJ, service the seniors, the school age children, the shut-ins ; Born Again Ministries Effort, PA (Drs Colon) where he would help with the banquet events, book bag drives, Thanksgiving preparation for the homeless, Christmas preparation for the homeless, help with the distribution and set up for the event for the Christmas for the angel tree children of incarcerated parents.
Favorite memories of David and what made him special was his smile, hugs, him cracking up laughing from the belly, the love he had for the children, and the way everyone thought they were special and now everyone is finding out that the love he had for them wasn't just for them, however, you would not have known that while he was still hear because he would direct his attention directly to you.
Tiffany one of my favorite memories of my brother is probably when we will play hide and seek, he would make me hide count so loud that I could hear him counting but he would go watch TV and never come find me. Chanayse said "one of my favorite memories of my brother is when he picked me up from the bus stop and we were walking home, and the neighbor's dog was coming to attack me, and I froze in fear and when I looked at David he was just frozen too. When my neighbor grabbed his dog David kept walking like nothing happened and I was like "wowwww", David, you weren't going to do anything."
Chase's favorite memory of David was, "I took him and Tiffany to Central Park. We got on the paddle boats in the water, and I had to paddle him and Tiffany. I was struggling really bad, and they were laughing so hard because I couldn't breathe. I wasn't in good enough shape to paddle them and the laughter they had made that day was so special." Uncle Tye - "David had a love for cars since the beginning. I remember when I would come to the house and David would get in my car. One day he said Uncle Tye let me drive and I did. He pulled back into the driveway and tapped one of the cars with no damage done, but he was happy and excited."
David's love for cooking came at an early age. You would find him in the kitchen playing restaurant with MaDear while the other kids were out playing. He would call Mama and tell her of his recipes constantly, and she would be like okay David make that for whatever gathering we were about to have. Mama loves his glazed carrots. Auntie Crystal loved when would make that good ole Kool-Aid and bring her some to taste. She was his protector, and he would definitely let you know that if too if you did something he didn't like I'm calling my Auntie.
Some of his favorite dishes are Macaroni and Cheese, fried chicken, Uncle Tye Stuffed Salmon, lobster David had a love for food.
Trish gave birth to Scooter but he was my baby no matter the time between seeing him he always would greet me with a big hug and a big smile. He made sure I met his friends. He was a blessing from the day he was born and will always be in my heart and soul – Nana.
Exodus 20:5 – Who has broken the curse of the generations? Though David was handicapped, was this a reflection of US? After all David didn't hold grudges, always forgave, would always greet you with a smile, and have a paralyzing hug. Maybe he was showing us OUR handicaps!!! In these areas I would say David was the Rabbi (teacher) and we were the Talmadim (students). David died like his Rabbi Yeshua. I will miss him – Uncle Pastor Les
Remaining to cherish David's memory are Trish (mother) Chase (stepfather); Maternal grandparents MaMa Barbara (Ray); Paternal grandparents David (Carol-MaDear), Phyliss; sisters Tiffany and Chanayse, niece Navii, cousin Lay-Lay, Uncles Tyrone, Pastor Les (Siobhan), Damon, Abdullah (Brenda), Howard (Swadija) Aunts Crystal (Todd) and Nicole (Duan) Names, Aunt Dana (Paul); his cousins that are like sisters and brothers EJ, Tye Tye, Amani, Tyra, Antoine, Chanel and Nyasa, his godparents Earl "MF" Williams, Auntie Gina and Uncle Nub and his great -grandmother Elizabeth. He became friends with Branden and Kenny 19 years ago and they became his "brothers" and Arryah became his niece. His TV Movie partner is definitely going to miss him. He definitely has a host of family and friends that he loves and that loves him. I am not able to list them all because I would be writing forever. Just know DAVIDs love was genuine. There is not a soul that came across his path that didn't feel his presence.
Preceding David in death are Dad David E. Elston III, great-grandmother Nanny and Nana.
