David Lawrence Essenmacher of Metamora, formerly of Vassar, Michgan, died on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was born in Hastings, Michigan, on January 4, 1961, to Larry and Carole Essenmacher.

David grew up in Vassar, where he attended Vassar Public Schools. He participated in high school sports including football, wrestling, and track. He also played in the high school concert band and a dance band. David obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics from Alma College, where he played football. David was employed by the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle System Center as an engineer.

David is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Scott (Chloe) and Kevin (Erika); parents, Larry and Carole Essenmacher; sister, Janet (Ken) Staten; and nephew, Troy (Stephani) Staten.

A memorial service will be held on August 16, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church of Vassar. Visitation starts at 10:30 AM with the service starting at 11:00 AM. Lunch will follow in Becker Hall in the basement of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, First Presbyterian Church of Vassar or the Wishes of the Family.
