David Arthur Evans passed peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, April 6, 2025. He was born in Salinas, California, on December 2, 1944, to Fredrick Albert and Victoria (Panziera) Evans. In August of 1951 the family moved to Watsonville, California, at the end of Elkhorn Slough, where he was raised on the family's dairy farm. He spent most of his childhood working with his father and other brother on the dairy farm. He enjoyed the beauty of the Elkhorn Slough, camping out on the property under the stars, and fishing. He became a steward of the land. He graduated from Moreland Notre Dame Academy (Grammar School) in 1959 and went to Mora Central High School, where he graduated in 1963. During those years in school, he had made some lifelong friends. He then attended Cabrillo College and moved on and graduated in 1968 from San Jose State University. He lived his life as a true pacifist. He formed the Skyland Man's Club with his buddies, Leon Van Putten, Don Champ, and Steve O'C. He worked at Eastfield and was given the gift of caring for children who needed a positive influence in their lives. In the early 1970's he traveled all around Europe and throughout the United States. At the end, he ended up working as a school bus driver for the Loma Prieta School District. When David retired from being a school bus driver, he was well respected member of the Loma Prieta Staff and was a proud member of the CSEA. During his retirement, he loved to make art. David leaves behind his son Joseph (Crystal) Evans, and their two children, Acacia and Eli. He also leaves behind his sister Kathleen Miedecke, also with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Springfield Grange Hall #523 (6 Werner Road, Watsonville, CA 95076) from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. There, you can share stories and memories about David. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choosing in David's name. Mehl's Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
