Obituary
David W. Ferdinand, 85, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Born March 28, 1938, in Clinton, OH, to the late Paul and Estella (King) Ferdinand, David was a 1956 graduate of Northwest High School and retired from LTV Steel and Jackson Local Schools. David was selfless, constantly self-sacrificing for his family, and always cheerful to be around. He enjoyed spending summers at Lake Mohawk, traveling, cars, horse racing, and casinos. David avidly enjoyed Massillon Tigers football, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Kent State football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (nee McAnaney). David is survived by his loving and longtime companion, Joan Spencer; by his children, Victor (Lori) Ferdinand and Sandy (Eric) Varndell; grandchildren, Michelle (Kyle) Taylor, Matthew (Jenna) Ferdinand, Neil (Samantha) Ferdinand, Nathan Ferdinand, Ross (Sally) Varndell and Clara Varndell; great-grandchildren, Iris and Nolan Taylor, Henry, Hayes, and Amelia Ferdinand, and Harper and Lincoln Ferdinand; brother, Paul (Shirley) Ferdinand, Jr.; sisters, Marilyn Bole and Donna (Richard) Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held THURSDAY, June 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 415 High St. N., Fr. Kevin McCaffrey and Fr. Edward Gretchko con-celebrants. Burial at Canal Fulton Cemetery. Visitation WEDNESDAY, May 31, 2023, from 5 pm - 8 pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton.
