David Fumiembo Gakodi

David Gakodi, age 24, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, determination, and a deep love for family. Born on February 15, 2001, in Boise, Idaho, David was the beloved child of Fumiembo Gakodi and Arlette Kilandi.

David was preceded in death by koko Modeste Gakodi a Gukalumuga, and koko Sarah Hewitt Gakodi whose memories remained an important part of his life.

A dedicated student with an enduring passion for learning, David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Games and Interactive Media from Michigan State University. He took great pride in his accomplishments and approached every opportunity with humility, creativity, and a strong work ethic. A gifted artist with a distinctive sense of style, David was an active member of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and contributed meaningful work within the community.

David leaves behind loving parents Fumu ( Olga) Gakodi and Arlette ( Christopher) Kilandi, and his cherished siblings Liam, Jesse, Joel, Daniel and Larissa and many aunties, uncles and cousins. He was a devoted son, sibling, nephew and friend-someone who uplifted others with a generous heart, thoughtful spirit, and quiet strength.

David's presence brought joy to all who knew him. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved
