David R. Gleason, 68, of Massillon, passed away at his home on January 22, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 8, 1953 in Berea, Ohio to the late Jerry and Alice (Wiskofske) Gleason.
Dave grew up in Venezuela, South America where he spent the majority of his childhood and if you asked Dave about it, he would have said it was the best childhood ever. He had countless stories of his earlier years there whether it was riding horses, helping build a golf course, or testing waters for piranhas, it was always sure to be an adventure.
Upon returning back to the U.S., Dave completed his senior year of high school and also met the love of his life, Joan "Robin" Shisler, who happened to be his neighbor. They married on May 4, 1974 and shared 47 years together.
Dave was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon and also worked for Allegheny Technologies, the former Republic Steel, where he worked as an electrician and retired from after 30 years of service.
Two of his greatest passions were golf and bowling. Dave and Robin made many fond memories doing both and she always said Dave was one of the best instructors for both games.
Dave was a dedicated husband, a beloved father and a proud grandpa.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Joan "Robin" Gleason; his daughter Dana (Corey) Kiefer and his son Adam (Sarah) Gleason; grandchildren Camryn, Caden, Palmer and Beckett; siblings Linda Falvo, Sharon (Jack) McWhorter, Joseph (Debbie) Gleason and John (Amy) Gleason.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Helen Shisler, brothers-in-law Chris Falvo and Bill Shisler, niece, Celeste Falvo and infant brother Paul Gleason.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26th from 4-6 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m.
