Linda Anne Thomas, age 86, of Jackson Township, peacefully took her last breath here and the next in heaven because of her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 12, 2025. Family, precious friends and beloved little puppy were with her.
Our beloved Mom and Gram lived a life marked by courage, prayer, determination, and concern for others. She left a legacy of love, faith, kindness, strength and good humor that will live on in the memories of all who knew her. Linda was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother as well as a dear friend.
Linda was born in Jewett, Ohio on February 3, 1939 to the late Raymond Arthur and Myrtle Eileen (Gunn) Kammeyer. She is survived by her sister Dorothy; daughter Colleen and (Gary) Winney; son Curt Cramblett (Kelly) and their adult children Kayla and Tyler; best friend Isabelle; forever friends Richard and Bonnie; and her precious little Shichon puppy Benji.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Roy B. Thomas; husband and father of her children Robert E. Cramblett and her dachshunds Sophie and Heidi.
A graduate of Jewett High School, Linda then attended Ohio State University. After marriage the newlyweds moved to Alliance, Akron and eventually Jackson Township. Her children were blessed to have her as a work- at-home mom in their early years who was always there to hear about their day and be involved in every aspect of their lives from Church life, Room Mother, and Little League Mom to Girl Scout Leader. we were proud of how she took joy in our well being and teachers would comment on how smartly dressed we were-she loved that. Neighbors would drop in at any time and Mom would be relaxed because she always kept a clean (very clean) and well organized home. We were blessed that cooking delicious meals came easy for her. Her love for learning about nutrition and vitamins led to work at GNC and Nature's Nutrition. Mom had a sense of adventure from taking a turn on scary fair rides and water skiing on Lake Erie to driving a rental car on Highway 1 for hours up the California coast. Travel to various places including a highlight Boston trip for a memorable Pops concert was always welcomed. The favorite vacation spot was from childhood-her Aunt's resort on Little Wolf Lake in Lewiston, Michigan. It was the same place she was able to share with her own family for years. Mom loved rowing a boat on the lake.
In mid-life she earned her Medical-Dental Assistant Certificate from Akron Medical-Dental Institute. After several years Linda retired from working as an Office Manager/Dental Assistant at a dental practice in the Lake Cable area. Patients appreciated how she remembered their names and details about their families. Our mother loved reading the newspaper. She barely watched TV without a newspaper in her hand. She started Linda's Pet Sitting business after reading about someone's success in Hudson. Clients described her as a "guardian angel" for their pets. The business resulted in years of strong friendships. Her love for our family dogs (Benjamin and Riley) was rivaled only by her unwavering passion for the Cleveland Cavaliers; she never missed a televised game, even on Christmas while the rest of us were waiting to open gifts. Equally fierce was her devotion to he Ohio State Buckeyes-not just the team, but especially the band. Mom loved bands, from her cherished Jackson Polar Bears to her alma mater JHS where she excelled in playing the trumpet.
Linda was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple and formerly St. Jacobs Lutheran Church where she served on Outreach and Worship committees. She cultivated a deep personal faith in the Lord that helped her understand the power of prayer and gave her strength and grace through the years. Linda enjoyed helping others meet their needs.
Her greatest pride and joy were her precious grandchildren. She attended their school activities and soccer games - always cherishing any opportunity to engage with them. As a very proud Gram, she would boast about Kayla and Ty's scholarly and professional accomplishments, but even more importantly, about their good character and great hearts.
We are missing her terribly already, but look forward to seeing her again.
A private memorial service has already taken place.
Memorials can be made in her memory to Happy Tails Thrift Shop and Canton Baptist Temple.
Thank you to Dr. Brian Ferguson of Adjust Chiropractic and Wellness Center. His prayerful expertise and care enabled Linda to become free of crippling pain to enjoy mobility without medications.
Thank you to all of those at Nobles Pond for the prayers, excellent nursing care and friendship.
