David Gledhill passed away on August 18, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on September 4, 1941, in Allentown, PA. David grew up in Middleburg, PA, and attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, where he received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the university that is now part of Rutgers University.

While at Lehigh, David met his wife, Patricia, and they were married in December 1963 in Northampton, PA. They had two children, Jonathan and Lynda.

David worked for more than 40 years in the business group that developed many common household products, including Glad Bags and Glad Wrap. He was part of the team that created the well-known "yellow and blue make green" storage bags. The business group began at the Union Carbide Corporation, later became First Brands, and eventually merged into The Clorox Company. Over the years, David advanced through the company, ultimately becoming the Director of Corporate Engineering before his well-deserved retirement. His career moved his family to various states, including New Jersey, Connecticut, and Georgia.

Upon retirement, David and Patricia moved to Sarasota, Florida, where they enjoyed traveling around the globe. As an engineer, David particularly admired great marvels such as the Pyramids of Egypt and the Panama Canal.

David was also devoted to his community. He served as President of the Wayne, NJ Chamber of Commerce and gave generously of his time. Gifted with a magnificent voice, he frequently sang in church choirs, including at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Sarasota. In retirement, he also served on the Lakeridge Falls Community Board.

Throughout his life, David was deeply dedicated to his family, their education, and their future. He taught his children to explore the natural beauty of the world, to work hard, and to always seek knowledge. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren grow and begin their own life journeys.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Frances Gledhill (née Peters). He is survived by his wife, Patricia (née Sagmeister), his children Jonathan (Susan) Gledhill and Lynda (Don) Kehoe, his sister Kathleen Hammer, and his four grandchildren: Camille, Elise, Vincent, and Julia.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church 833 Magellan Dr, Sarasota, FL 34243 at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's name to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation.
