David Grenfell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James Funeral Home & Cremation Service, PC - Bethlehem on Oct. 12, 2024.
David D. Grenfell, age 72, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Bethlehem Hospital on October 8th, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
David was born in Ridley, Pennsylvania, and was the youngest child of his late parents: Wesley Grenfell and Edith Grenfell (Malcom). David is preceded in death by his son, David, and his siblings: Edith, Ellen, and William. David is survived by his loving wife Gaynell, three daughters, Gaynell (Dax), Ashley, and Casey; and twelve cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Gianna, Jaxon, Kylos, Sydney, Savannah, Alyssa, Michael, Olivia, Layla, Carmella, and Arnold.
David attended Collingdale High School (class of 1969), where he met his wife Gaynell. From his junior year, they have not been apart. David was an avid pool shooter and member of the local American Legion 242. He also enjoyed creating works of art; from paper and pencil, to wood and nails. David was also very involved in many sports throughout his lifetime. To name a few: basketball, gymnastics, hunting, fishing, and archery.
David lived everyday to his fullest. He enjoyed spending time with his family and making everyone around him laugh. David was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Services: A celebration of David's Life is being planned. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to James Funeral Home, Bethlehem.

If you knew Dave; you knew his heart and home was open to all, he had such a witty sense of humor, very good at everything he did and loved his family. Dave was always the cool uncle that got you the great and coolest gifts that parents wouldn´t get you. All the great parties he and Gaynell threw for their kids over the years were always fun for us kids.

Dave opened his home to me and welcomed me into their immediate family when I was 17 years old with no where to go and gave me instant family and although I do not know them as adults; for many years he gave me a little brother and 3 younger sisters that I was so close to for many years. Dave was a huge influence on me and helped me become the man I am today. Working with him for years and looking out for me... teaching me so many things I needed to learn.
Rest in peace Uncle Dave.

It was my honor to know Dave and share so many good times with Dave and Gaynell. 50+ year friendships are rare and special. I was proud to stand with them at their wedding and proud to call them my friends. I'll miss you, Dave, as will everyone that knew your bright light.

Dave was trying to teach me to ride his motorbike. In the first lesson, the bike took off leaving me standing in the street. Thus ended the lessons.
