David Leon Heisel, 75, passed away on January 20, 2025 in Oberlin, KS surrounded by loved ones. David was born on August 21, 1949 to Ralph and Veda (Black) Heisel in Oberlin, KS.
Dave was raised in Oberlin alongside seven brothers and sisters, and attended Oberlin schools in his younger years. During his school days, Dave met Betty (Brooks) Heisel and were later married on March 22, 1969. During that time, Dave worked as a mechanic for Brown Motor Co. in Oberlin, and he and Betty welcomed their two daughters, Shelby & Darci. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Fort Morgan, CO where Dave quickly moved his way up as a tool pusher in the oil field industry.
Dave had a love for old cars, traveling to & riding razors in the mountains, and loved to race hobby stock cars
Dave is survived by former wife and friend: Betty Heisel; daughters: Shelby (Bradley) Uehlin and Darci (Brice) Meitl; brothers: Verle Heisel and Vivan (Victoria) Heisel; sisters: Karen Carpenter, Lorena (Larry) Taylor, and Connie (Dennis) Shea; grandchildren: Brandon (Natalie) Doebele, Mika (Jacob) Fortin, Gavon Uehlin, Laysha O'Shields, and Faith (Gatlin) Hissong; great-grandchildren: Anna Marie, Kasen, Kruze, Orrin, Riley, and Noah. Alongside many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded by parents: Ralph & Veda Heisel; brother: Loyal Heisel; sister: Reta Barlow; nephew: Marvin Heisel.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Oberlin Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oberlin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made out to the David Heisel Memorial Fund. Condolence can be left at www.plumergobber.com.
