Rev. David Heitner, born July 4, 1950, went Home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2026. After graduating from Valparaiso University in 1972, he worked in the visual arts until he was called to seminary in 1982. After graduating from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, David was called to minister at Faith Lutheran in Oklahoma in 1986. Later, he was called to serve at churches in Pennsylvania and New York until he returned to Oklahoma and served until he retired from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church after 18 years of service. He had just celebrated his 39th year in ministry.

David was preceded in death by his father, Donald Heitner; his mother, Mildred (Hoffman) Heitner; his older brother, Dennis Heitner; his older sister, Joyce Pranschke; and his grandson, PSilocin Hatter.

Married on February 14, 1976, David is survived by his wife, Christine (Romans) Heitner. He is also survived by his two younger sisters, Susan Heitner and Jill Fischer; his six children, Erin Masser, Gretchen Zollbrecht, Andrew Heitner, Alison Thompson, Philip Heitner, and Katherine Boydston; his six grandchildren, Emily Zollbrecht, Madison Zollbrecht, Logan Heitner, Rose Boydston, Gabriel Thompson, and Lily Boydston; and his great-grandchild, Aveia Robinson.

David's funeral will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Duncan, OK on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00am. There will be a brief viewing at the church at 9:00am that morning. He will then be interred at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK at 3:00pm on the 11th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Duncan, OK.
