David J. Herniak, age 64, Elwood, Indiana, passed away May 20, 2025. He was born on December 3, 1960, the son of Frank & Mary (Adrianson) Herniak.
David graduated from Elwood Community High School with the class of 1979. David was known for his work as a tool machinist. His career spanned across several decades, finally retiring in the sunny state of Florida in 2019. Despite the high-tech nature of his work, David was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was known to enjoy a quiet, simple life. His humility and kindness were his trademarks, and he was often seen with a bright smile on his face, spreading infectious laughter amongst his friends and family.
David's world revolved around his son, Mitchell Herniak and daughter-in-law, Hyejin Park. He was a devoted father who took great pride in his son's achievements. He is also remembered fondly by his family in Elwood, Indiana. David was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Herniak, and his siblings, Tim and Christie Herniak.
David's wishes were to have private services and burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood. Dunnichay Funeral Home is honored to care for our dear friend and the Herniak family.
We encourage you to share your favorite memories and upload photos of David on his memorial page.
