David Roy Hughes

David Roy Hughes, 71, of Burlington, passed away at home on Monday, September 22, 2025 following a short battle with cancer. David was born in Elgin, Illinois on March 10, 1954 to Harry F. and Margie M. (nee Volk) Hughes. He grew up and was educated in Huntley, IL. On September 30, 1977 David was united in marriage to Lori Ann Goehl. Following marriage they made their home in Raymond, WI before moving to the Burlington area in 1993. Together they owned and operated Dalor Transist Inc. for almost 50 years. David was a member of Grace Church in Burlington and the Swift Rider Horse Club. He enjoyed horses, skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, aviation, traveling and time spent on his motorcycle. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and sharing his faith in Jesus with others. David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lori; children, Kristina (Joseph) Lindmark, Alison (Michael) Stark and David L. Hughes; grandchildren, James, John, Grace, Aiden, Nolan, Lola, Clara and Landon; siblings, Diane Schirmer and Dale (Anne) Hughes; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margie; an infant twin brother, Donald; his in-laws John and Grace Goehl, and cousin and best friend, Danny Fruin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Church. Services for David will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 4:30PM at Grace Church in Burlington, WI Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the CHURCH from 1:30 until 4:30PM. Burial will take place on Monday September 29, 2025 at 11am in Rochester Cemetery.
