David E. Jones, 73, of Swoyersville, passed away on Monday, August 18th, while his hand was held and surrounded by his loving family, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
David was born in Kingston on July 22nd, 1952, the son of Richard and Mary Jones. He was a graduate of West Side Tech High School, Class of 1972. He had a handful of jobs as he grew old enough to attain work but found his passion behind the wheels of a tractor trailer. His favorite truck was a Kenworth. He was employed at "Bevaco", where he began his driving career, staying with them as it became US Foods, dedicating a total of 44 years to these companies, and his love for the open road and seeing his favorite customers. They all knew him by name.
He had a great love for cars, owning a Mustang Cobra, which he spoke of often. He took great pride in that car. He also enjoyed his bowling leagues throughout the years, Sunday football with his favorite teams Penn State, and the Steelers, he loved wrestling and especially loved watching all the new things his kids and grandkids were doing. His devotion to his family and his job were immeasurable. He was an honorable man with a true heart of gold. He received many awards for his work accomplishments over the years which he displayed proudly and even was an active member of the United Methodist Church men's group holding the title of Vice President. He was a humble man, who took much pride in all he did, and left smiles on the faces of those who knew him and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his loving sisters, Beverly and Beth Ann, and his beautiful niece, Jill.
