David Russell Krupp, 69, of Chester, VA passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born on November 6, 1955 in Camp Lejeune, NC to his late parents, Russell J. and Marion E. Krupp. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Ann Krupp.

He is survived by his sons, Russell Krupp (Ashley) and Craig Krupp (Amanda), along with his beloved grandchildren—Caelyn, Kinsley, Conner, Mason, Brooks, and Emersyn—who were his greatest treasures. He is also survived by his brother Bert Krupp (Allison) and their sons, Kyle (Victoria), Dylan, and Mackenzie, as well as his sister, Carol Krupp.

David left this world surrounded by the love of his family. He was a man of unwavering dedication—to his family, work, and the simple joys in life that made him who he was. After graduating from Colonial Heights High School, David completed his apprenticeship as a Sheet Metal Worker at The Newport News Apprentice School. For 39 years, he worked as a Sheet Metal Mechanic at Honeywell, providing for his family with a work ethic that was second to none. David had a passion for using his gifts to solve problems, or save a dollar, by making items with sheet metal: mailbox, Christmas tree stand, grill scraper, lunchbox, etc. He was especially proud of two patents he secured: pressure equalizer damper and fish hook extractor.

As much as he valued hard work, David's greatest joy came from the time he spent with those he loved. Christmas was always a special time for him, a season filled with laughter, warmth, and family traditions. Every summer, he looked forward to our annual trip to Nags Head, NC—his absolute favorite time of the year—where he could relax by the ocean, share stories, and create cherished memories with his family. David found happiness in the little things—fishing with his buddies, hanging out with the posse, tending to his yard with pride, scratching lottery tickets with his grandchildren at Christmas, and battling his children in backgammon, never missing an opportunity to tease about who was truly the best. His sons, their wives, and grandchildren were his world, and he loved them with his whole heart.

David's presence will be deeply missed, but his kind, humorous, and loving spirit will live on through those who loved him. The family takes comfort in knowing David is at peace with the Lord, watching over them, and probably still insisting he was the backgammon champion.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia, 23834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

Every year, David would go to Boulevard Flowers and pick out the tallest Christmas tree he could find to put in the living room. The red and white lights shining, family ornaments dangling full of memories, and smell of a fresh-cut Fraser Fir filling the house always brought a smile to his face. The family would love to honor his memory by giving other families the opportunity to create their own special Christmas memories around a Christmas tree.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Christmas Tree Donation fund at Boulevard Flower Gardens using the following link: Christmas Tree Donation | Boulevard Flower Gardens
