Robert Harrison Obituary
April 24, 1945 - March 17, 2025
Robert Beverly Harrison Jr, 79, of Prince George, passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born April 24, 1945, in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Beverly Harrison Sr. and Patricia Carwile.
After graduating from Colonial Heights High School in 1964 he served as a proud Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Air Force, earning NCO of the year. He enjoyed a 40 year career with Virginia Department of Transportation, followed by 15 years as a consultant. A dedicated community member, Bobby was involved iin numerous organizations including VFW Post 2239( past Commander), American Legion Post 284( past Vice Commander), Colonial Heights Optimist Club and Kiwanis Club, Ducks Unlimited and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. A lifelong sportsman, Bobby loved softball, golf and time spent at Chippoax Gun Club. His signature "Bobbyisms" and humor brought laughter to all. His love for his family, friends and helping others defined his life and created a legacy of kindness, hard work and dedication.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ramona Carneal Harrison, and brother James Harrison (Beverly), daughters Katie Hardee (Tom), Melissa Curry (Stephen); grandsons Michael(Meredith), Matthew (Grace),Rich; granddaughters Samantha (John), Langley; great grandchildren Harrison, Quinn, Peyton, Paige and two cats, Tillie and Coco. The family would like to thank Dr. David Powers and James River Hospice team Camille, Anna, Yvette and Chaplain Ed Kross for their compassionate care.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025, at Gary's United Methodist Church,13501 Sunnybrook Road, Petersburg, Virginia, 23805. The family will welcome guests at the Country Club of Petersburg from 2:30-4:30 p.m. following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Crater Community Hospice,3916 South Crater Road Petersburg, VA 23805.

What a wonderful friend and colleague! Bobby worked with me as a paralegal at VDOT in the 1970´s and made everyday pleasant. Tripping with him and Bob Covington to far flung courthouse record rooms in the county seats of Mecklenburg, Goochland or Charles City were always interesting - and he always knew a good place to eat nearby. I have fond memories of my early legal career advising the Highway Dept. and Bobby was a big part of it. A great guy. Mona, I will keep you and your family in my heart and pray that God´s blessings will comfort you.
