David went to heaven very suddenly on September 2, 2022, joining his mother and father. He is survived by his
daughter, Jennifer, husband Chris Wirt and granddaughter Serenity of Chehalis, WA; son David (DJ) of Lancaster; their mother Susan Lane; three sisters Laura Lane Kassel, Michelle Lane McKim and Valerie Lane Lagle and their extended families, 11 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
David was the third of four children born to Dick and Eileen Lane, and the only son. He was brilliant from the time he could talk. He went to grammar, middle and high school in the Antelope Valley, graduating with honors from Paraclete High School in 1983. He and his ex-wife Susan established Sarahtoga Kennels, breeding Schipperkes and Bouviers, raising and showing several generations of top winning show dogs. David had a profound love for music and musical theater which he would unapologetically sing to; as he should. His favorites were RENT, Cats, and Fiddler on the Roof. His children would always ask him to stop; but secretly it was hilarious and these moments were filled with immense joy. David would always be the one in a heated debate and thoroughly enjoyed conversations of depth and substance. He would frequently be observed by others while conversing. David was the quintessential soccer dad. He not only cheered on his daughter and son but he had the nick name King of the Hill at various soccer tournament locations due finding a hill he could stand on and cheer with his booming voice. David would tote around the big green wagon all throughout the soccer fields every Saturday during soccer season. He absolutely loved this time of year.
Later in life, David rediscovered his passion for higher education, earning multiple undergraduate degrees and a
Masters. He played an important part in dozens of students lives as mentor and tutor at Antelope Valley College and Cal State Bakersfield. David was a person you could turn too and he would show compassion, patience, and
wisdom. Through his own struggles, he became a vocal advocate of mental health awareness. Davids passion and calling to help others were God given. His vehement voice will forever be missed. Burial services through Halley Olsen Mortuary, St. Marys Catholic Church, and Good Shepherd Cemetery. Due to his sudden passing, his family was financially unprepared. Donations can be made through the web address below to help the family lay David to rest with his parents.
