In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved David John LaPointe, who departed this life on February 11, 2026 at the age of 71. David was born in Beverly and is preceded by his father Gerard (Jerry) LaPointe, mother Lucy (Dianni) LaPointe, and sister Maryann (LaPointe) Smith.
David was a devoted husband, parent and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Anne Cote-LaPointe, his stepchildren Renee (Cobuccio) and William LeClair, Anthony Cobuccio, Julie Cobuccio and Lori (Cobuccio) and Karl Schumann, his 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and many beloved friends. David touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
David was a passionate hockey fan and held season Bruins tickets for many years. He also coached youth hockey and believed that everybody plays, no matter what their skill level.
David was a Beverly Fire Fighter and was on duty on the ladder truck in the July 4, 1984 disastrous fire with deadly consequences for some residents at the Elliot Street Room house in Beverly. He was also on duty on November 28, 1981 for the Second Great Lynn Fire.
After he left the Beverly Fire Department, David built a thriving plumbing and heating business, installing and servicing heating and air conditioning equipment in homes and businesses throughout the North Shore.
During his retirement, he enjoyed going to his summer camper in New Hampshire and taking the golf cart rides around the campground accompanied by his wife and loyal dog. On their rides they would visit with other campers and checked in on neighbors and friends.
David was a past Master of the Mount Tabor Masonic Lodge in Ipswich MA., and a fraternal member of the Aleppo Shriners located in Wilmington MA., where he was active in helping raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children and transportation fund. He epitomized the true meaning of what a Mason should be.
He served as vice president for the Danvers Fish and Game Club located in Middleton MA., He also was chairman of the Skeet Shotgun where he coordinated the renovation of both the skeet shotgun filed and clubhouse.
David was a person who was unselfish with his personal time and cared deeply for his family and friends. He would do anything in his power to help them. He was so appreciative when friends came to visit and to comfort him when he was ill and not doing well. For that he was so grateful.
At Davids request, there will be no formal services but there will be a celebration of life in the spring with family and friends.
