New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for David McAcy, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Iberia Honor Guard.
Deacon Durk Viator will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Monday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm.
A long-time resident of New Iberia, Mr. McAcy was born on October 8, 1945, in New Orleans, to the late Mayo and Eleanor McAcy. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana. Mr. McAcy then proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War as a photo interpreter. Having a passion for work, Mr. McAcy established Field Data Services in 1979 as a cartographer, operating it for 30 years until his retirement. He then went to work mapping utility lines for Wink, Inc, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Following retirement, as a devoted family man, Mr. McAcy cherished every moment spent with his wife and loved ones. loved his family deeply, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Whiting McAcy of New Iberia; daughters, Stephanie McAcy Smith of Youngsville and Carrie McAcy of Youngsville; grandchildren, Jordi Norwood, Michael Norwood, Jr., Lexi Terrell (Quincey), Shane Smith, Jr., and Hailey Smith (Nick Landry); great grandchildren, Kellan Landry, Ronan Landry, and Trinity Terrell; sisters, Nora Ledet (Morris) and Frankie Tassin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Shane Smith, Sr., and a brother, Daniel McAcy.
Pallbearers will be Shane Smith, Jr., Michael Norwood, Sr., Russell Whiting, Jordi Norwood, Nick Landry, and Michael Norwood, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers include his great-grandson Kellan Landry and brother-in-law Morris Ledet.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Iberia Medical Center, especially ICU and Rehab, Dr. Reddy, and Lauren Doumit, NP.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
