David E. McGuffee, age 75, of Gulfport, passed away on December 25, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Hartwell McGuffee; his mother, Alice Hankins McGuffee Allen; his step-father, Robert Allen; a brother, Durwood E. McGuffee; a sister, Lynda McGuffee Osley; and a brother-in-law, Kit Glenn.
Mr. McGuffee is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Catherine Ranson McGuffee; his children, Cara Leigh McGuffee Karetas (Alex) and Nicholas Ryan McGuffee (Kelli Darnell McGuffee); his sister, Elaine McGuffee Woods (Joel); his grandchildren, Caiden Alexander Karetas, Anna Catherine Karetas, Anderson Carter Karetas, Ashton Caine Karetas, Mary Ella McGuffee, and Myles Kit McGuffee; and his beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
Mr. McGuffee was a native and lifelong resident of Gulfport and was a graduate of Gulfport High School Class of 1968. He later attended the University of Southern Mississippi and Western Illinois University earning a degree in business with a minor in accounting. In 2015, he retired as Executive Director of Operations from Global Financial Services.
He enjoyed playing guitar with his family and having jam sessions with his high school friends. He was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, watching and supporting the New Orleans Saints, and taking daily walks with his wife. He adored and was very proud of his children and grandchildren never missing soccer games, softball games, flag football games, tennis matches, dance recitals, or school programs.
Mr. McGuffee was a faith filled Christian man and was a devout member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Olivia Hightower and the oncology team at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and to the Vital Caring Group, especially nurse Marcellus Jordan, for their caring support of Mr. McGuffee during his illness.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 9:30 am – 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2414 17th Street, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church.
