David E. McInerny, 64, of Franklin died September 30, 2024 after a brief illness. He passed surrounded by loving family like a warm blanket. David was born In Worcester on October 24, 1959, the beloved son of the late Edward S. McInerny and Shirley M. McInerny.
David enjoyed many activities such as bowling, biking with Dad, rock n' roll music, car shows, good food, dances, and birthday parties. A willing volunteer, David happily gave his time to the Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, the Food Pantry, Earth Day, and local nursing homes. After his parents retired, David spent much time with them on Cape Cod busy in the workshop with Dad and eating Mom's good cooking. David was grateful for anything that was done for him, even a good cup of coffee. David's parents raised him to be a polite and true gentleman.
David is survived by his sisters, Judith Anne Kane and her husband Dennis of Auburn, Donna E. Estey and her husband Kenneth of Uxbridge. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Theresa Nordborg, Deborah Whitton, Nancy Hassett, Timothy Kane and Nicole Walsh. He is also survived by 13 great nieces and nephews.
David made our world a better place and taught us by example the meaning of humility and courage. As described by a close friend, "David will forever be a good man."
The family wishes to express gratitude to the many people of HMEA for their compassionate and respectful care of David over the years. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of David to HMEA, 8 Forge Park, Franklin, MA 02038.

I grew up with my Uncle David in Auburn. I remember spending a lot of time on Packachoag Hill at Nana and Grandpa's house with him. They always loved him so very much. My fondest memory is David's love for the Beach Boys, a band and vibe that sticks with me today in my own band.
