My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. Losing a loved one can be extremely hard. May you find peace and comfort in knowing the fact that God longs to bring back those who are in His memory and to see them live on earth again. Job 11 : 14 , 15

David was an outstanding husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed and always appreciated. His love for God, family and life will always be remembered. Having known Dave for just over 5 years made a world of difference in my life and I'm sorry it has ended. The ceremony was beautiful and Dave's impact on people's live were evident. We'll miss you brother.

I worked with and near Dave in Distribution at Target. He was hilarious. We occasionally talked about faith, and he joked that Episcopalians were just Diet Catholics (I'm Catholic). "All the Catholic, half the guilt!" We shared a love of James Taylor. We both were laid off from Target around the same time. When he took a new position with Tractor Supply, he worked out of the Elk River store for a week. I live in Elk River so I hopped in the car and brought him coffee. That was the last time I saw him, but not the last time I talked to him. I don't think Dave will ever really be gone considering the impact he had on so many people. Yes, there are a lot of great people in the world, but I've never come across someone else in the same league as Dave. I'm so sorry for the loss his family and friends are going through. Please know that there are many of us who have you in our daily thoughts.

I knew Dave from our service at Fort Benning, GA. Dave was both an outstanding officer and a gentleman. A true professional, Dave provided leadership to the officers, drill sergeants, professional staff, and soldiers in our battalion. Dave was an impressive man who impacted many lives in a positive manner during our service together. I offer my deepest sympathy to Laura and their family through this most difficult time.

Dave Medlin was a man we should all aspire to emulate. He accomplished more in 39 years than most do in a lifetime. He is now with the Father in heaven, which is the only silver lining I can find in this dark cloud. My heart hurts for his family; I hope they know there are people who would drop everything in a nanosecond to help. I am one of them.

Dave was a mentor and friend, one of the good guys. I owe him a great deal and am so appreciative of the time I had with him. He was influential in my career at Target and even more so in my personal development, in helping me to search out my calling and pursue my passion. He will be missed. My prayers are with his family.

To Laura, Ron, Brenda, and all of David's family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. The tributes offered at today's service by David's friends and brother-in-law were some of the most poignant, beautiful, and touching I've ever heard. The depth of love and admiration that each of them had for him was so clear. Even to those of us who did not know him, it was plain that he has been a life-changing inspiration to many people. May that certainty, and the certainty that he is with God, bring you a measure of comfort in your deep grief. Peace be with you.

Laura and family,
David was an senior when I interviewed for a position at Furman in the Department of Military Science and Leadership. I heard about David and his classmates many times. God Bless you in these days and years to come. Please know you are part of a much larger family here at Furman and the Army. My prayer is that your only memories are love given and received.

To Laura and family, David was an exceptional human being. His friendship meant so much to so many because he expressed his faith in God, his faith in family, and his kindness towards all. Thank you so much for sharing him with us and our entire nation as a soldier. I will miss him deeply as I know you will even more, yet we know that his spirit lives right now with the Lord.
Our love and support, Mark and Evelyn

So many of my first high school memories include David. He was such a great man with a big heart who always had a smile on his face. My heart goes out to Coach Medlin and the rest of David's family.

Condolences to you and your family, Laura. I remember you both from St. Charles Episcopal Church. My Gary died 2 years ago, unexpectedly too, and my only bit of advice is to let the prayers of many carry you though these very tough days. Dave was a kind and gentle man and he will not be forgotten.

I had the honor of meeting Dave a few weeks ago at an event for veterans. He was passionate about working with the military veteran community to fight unemployment and homelessness. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.

Dave was absolutely one of "the good guys" - loyal, genuine, funny, soldier. We were so blessed to have him as a friend for a far too short time. Heartfelt prayers to Laura and the kids, and to the rest of Dave's family.

It was an absolute honor and privilege to work with Dave. He taught me so much about being a leader. And...his sense of humor was incredible. To this day I still have a list of tearable puns that he gave me that I proudly display in my office. He and I would send each other good puns that we would come across...the more groan worthy, the better.
May God rest his soul in His everlasting peace and may his memory live on for all who knew him.
