INDIANAPOLIS – David Allen Moss, age 87, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on November 18, 1937, to Russell and Ellen (Sweet) Moss. He attended Prairie Creek High School, and later on received his G.E.D. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961. He married Elna (Fleming) Moss on September 20, 1985, in Maxwell, IN. David worked for the Ford Motor Company for 39 plus years before retiring in July of 2003. He was a member of Pleasant Masonic Lodge #134 in Acton, IN. He was a martial artist and teacher at the Ford Motor Company in the Union Hall. David enjoyed photography, taking photographs, and developing film. He especially loved going fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Elna Moss; children, Rusty (David) Couse and Teresa (Michael) Douthitt; step-children, Kathy Blount, Tiffany Wyatt, and Michael Taulman; four grandchildren, Heather Douthitt, Christopher Douthitt, Josh Douthitt, and Brandon Douthitt; five step-grandchildren, Destiny Taulman-Franklin, Zachary Blount, Carley Blount, Sienna Wyatt, and Jackson Wyatt; four great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Denny Moss, Frank Moss, and Marjorie Todd. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Judy, Janette, Austin and Calvin. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will immediately follow the service at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. There will be active duty, and military rites will be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, by website at https://donate.cancer.org, or the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852, by website at https://give.kidneyfund.org. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary. The Moss Family would like to say a special thanks to Heath Wyatt and the Indianapolis Fire Department #42 for their help with David.
