David Carlton Murray, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Hospice Home.  A native of Alamance County, he was born July 19, 1928 to the late Kenneth Everett and Lena Burch Murray and was the husband of 69 years to the late Dorothy Tickle Murray.

Carlton was a longtime member of Crossway Church (formerly, Altamahaw Pentecostal Holiness Church) where he served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, choir member and a deacon for over 40 years.  He enjoyed the outdoors, mostly working in his garden and meticulously caring for his lawn.  Carlton also worked as a draftsman for AMP, Inc. (Tyko Inc.) and was an avid UNC Tarheel fan.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Renae Allison (Gary) of Graham; Lorie Gaines (Darrell) of Elon; grandchildren, Jordan Gaines, Alexandria Gaines, Hope Dodson (Jeff); great grandchildren, Landon and Noah Dodson; sister, Ruth Brady (Charles); brother, Paul Murray (Kathy) and a sister-in-law, Wonnie Collins.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; sisters, Billie Murray Lowe, Eva Doris Murray Brady, Sylvia Murray Lowe; brothers, Willard Steven Murray and Kenneth Donald Murray.

A service to celebrate Carlton’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Darrell Gaines with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 – 12:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice) 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Crossway Church, PO Box 125, Altamahaw, NC 27202.
