In Loving Memory of David Lee Nicol

June 2, 1948 – August 16, 2025

David Lee Nicol, 77, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born on June 2, 1948, to John Murray Nicol and Margaret Nuttall Nicol, David was the fifth son in a family full of boys, love, faith, and strong traditions.

On October 12, 1966, David proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor and dedication until September 26, 1990.

David shared 57 wonderful years with his high school sweetheart, Diana Lynn Nielsen. They met at the Scera Theater in 1964, and their love story began. They were married on April 16, 1968. Together, they welcomed three children: Jilynn (February 7, 1974), Amie (August 1, 1976), and Gregory Douglas (September 23, 1978). Their life together was built upon love, teamwork, forgiveness, and laughter.

David had a zest for life and found joy in simple pleasures-boating, water skiing, golfing, fishing, hunting, and making memories with those he loved most. His humor, kindness, and ability to bring fun to every moment will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his children, Jilynn Jones & Carlos Saravia and Amie Leany; his cherished grandchildren, Shelby & Micheal Black, River Blue & Kylee Norton Arcadia Leany & Isaac Vance, Berlin Leany & Cade Kanahele; and his great-granddaughters, Brielle, Willow, and Annabelle Black; along with many other beloved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Margaret Nicol; in-laws, Betty & Wayne Nielsen; siblings, Mary Nicol and Johnny & Brenda Nicol; sons, Gregory Douglas Nicol and Travis Kent Leany; and grandson, Boston Gregory Leany.
