Andrew Jacobs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Sanderson Funeral Home & Crematory - Orem on Aug. 21, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Andrew Duane Jacobs, was born on December 3, 1974, in Provo, Utah, and passed away on

August 19, 2025, at the age of 50. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Camie

Casper Jacobs; his children Sydney Drew Patten (Braden), Mya Shea Barney (Ashton),

Cameron Hunter Jacobs, and Ty Casper Jacobs; and his cherished grandchildren, Oliver Craig

Patten, Baby Boy Patten, and Baby Barney. Andy is also lovingly remembered by his parents,

Viola Jean and David Duane Jacobs; his siblings Scott Jacobs (Amy), Diane Stanley (Richard),

Kaye Lynn Wright (Jamie), Daniel Jacobs (Theresa), and David Jacobs (Susan); along with a

large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear relatives. Andy was surrounded by family

and friends who loved him deeply.

Andy can be best described using the words Husband, Father, Papa, Coach, and Friend.

Husband - Camie is, was, and forever will be Andy's very best friend. She was the most

important person in his life. They met through the Orem track team when they were 12 years old

and continued that friendship until today. They were sealed together on July 19, 1996 in the Salt

Lake City Temple. They have created the most beautiful life together and were able to spend an

incredible 29 years together. They were perfectly made for each other.

Father - Sydney, Mya, Cameron, and Ty were the pride of Andy's life. He has been their biggest

supporter, cheerleader, and best friend. From track meets to soccer games, choir concerts to

gymnastics events, primary talks to seminary graduations - he was always there for them. He

was so proud of his kids in everything that they did. He was always there to give them a hug or

a shoulder to cry on. His kids were his greatest achievement.

Papa - Andy was the best papa in the whole world. Ollie was his very best little friend. Nothing

brought him greater joy than being able to spend time with him. He also has two grandbabies on

the way that he was incredibly excited to welcome in the coming months. Now we know that he

is taking the very best care of them before they get here to Earth. Not only did he have his own

grandkids, but he was also lucky enough to have 5 wonderful grandneighbors (Grace, Nela,

Evie, Gabe, and Theo) that he loved so much.

Coach - Running has been a huge part of Andy's life. His love for running started when he was

8 years old when he won his age group at the Ronald McDonald 5k. He has been hooked ever

since. He ran for the Orem city track club (where he met Camie) growing up and then competed

for Orem High School's cross country and track teams for all 4 years. After high school he

attended Utah Valley State College and competed on their very first men's cross country team.

He started coaching in the fall of 2004 at Orem High School and has been there ever since. It

really was his home away from home. His athletes meant so much to him and he truly became a

father figure to so many. He cared so deeply not only about his athletes athletic performance,

but about their ability to grow and improve as human beings. He encouraged everyone to be the

best version of themselves that they could be and supported them with all that he had. His

influence has touched thousands of lives and he will forever be remembered as one of the

greatest coaches of all time.

Friend - If you have met Andy, you know how good of a friend he was. He was a friend to all, it

didn't matter who you were or where you came from. He loved so deeply and was always willing

to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it. His doors were always open. Even on your

worst days, Andy could bring a smile to your face with loud singing, inappropriate jokes, funny

dance moves, or just with his own genuine shiny bright smile.

We cannot talk about Andy without talking about his deep love for his Savior Jesus Christ.

Something that he taught his kids from a very young age is that life is just better with Jesus. And

it is so true. Life can be so hard, but with the gospel of Jesus Christ life becomes easier. Heavy

things become lighter. He was a constant example of having faith, hope, and love. Andy served

a mission in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he was able to teach people about our Savior and

his restored Gospel. After returning home from his mission, he never stopped teaching. He was

continually finding ways to talk about Jesus or the Gospel in everyday conversations. He had a

strong testimony that families can be together forever and we believe that is true without a

doubt. We look forward to the day that we will get to embrace him once again.

We invite everyone to love like Andy.

The viewing will be held on Sunday, August 24th from 6-8pm at the Walker Sanderson Funeral

Home (646 E 800 N Orem, UT) and again on Saturday August 30th from 9:30-10:30am at the

Orem East Stake Center (810 E 600 N Orem, UT).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 30th at 11am at the Orem East Stake Center (810 East

600 North Orem, UT) where Andy's life will be honored and his memory celebrated.

Served with Andy in Hammond, Louisiana in the Baton Rouge Louisiana Mission. Even though we had a car we rode our bikes and walked a lot because Andy loved to keep moving. His humility, work ethic, and faith inspired a lot of people to investigate the gospel and made the work fun. Serving with Andy are some of my best memories of my mission. He was a hard worker and always stayed focused .... unless he started talking about his girl waiting for him back home ..... we all knew he was going to go home and marry Camie :)

I was fortunate to stay in pretty regular contact with Andy over the last 30 years. Life and geography gets in the way a lot but each time we reconnected it´s like we were 19 again and back in Louisiana.

I was also fortunate that my children were able to meet Andy at track meets when they came to Utah to run. He took an interest in any kid that expressed and interest in running and was always quick to lend an encouraging word or some advice to help motivate them and help them excel.

I got to see Andy again at our last mission reunion in 2024 and I´m thankful we were able to reconnect. After all these years he was still the same amazing individual and still carried that classic Andy twinkle in his eye.

You will be missed my friend!!!
