David Niederer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 19, 2024.
David Blaine Niederer, aged 69, passed away on June 18, 2024, at home from pancreatic cancer. He was known for his warm sense of humor, strong work ethic, and love of learning.
He was born February 15, 1955, in Rigby, Idaho, to Rulon Blaine and Gayle Morgan Niederer. He was raised in Rexburg, Idaho and had fond memories working with his grandfather on the family farm in Annis, Idaho.
David and Patricia Arnold were married August 1, 1975. For their first date, he bought her a fishing license and they went fishing on Warm River. He carried that license in his wallet throughout the rest of his life. They raised six children (Jason, Meg, Johanna, Amy, Jacob, and Caleb) together.
As a father and grandfather, David delighted in teasing and pranking. He loved the laughter. He enjoyed taking his kids camping, fishing, hunting, and on trips to Maverik. He had a soft spot for four-legged friends and always had one by his side.
David's curiosity knew no bounds-he was passionate about bees, rocks, birds, history, hunting, trapping, and books. He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed SweeTARTS, strawberry milkshakes, and raspberry-filled donuts and would frequently treat himself with a Big Jud's hamburger.
He enjoyed working with his hands and spent many hours woodworking and keeping his beloved bees. He made a career as a home builder and as a diesel mechanic. David also spent many years as a stay-at-home dad and entertaining the neighborhood kids. He also served in the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Jason (Sherma) Niederer, Meg (Kelly) Hansen, Johanna (Kevin) Powell, Amy (Kade) Raymond, Jacob (Stephanie) Niederer, and Caleb (Shalei) Niederer; his mother, Gayle Niederer; his sister Vickie (Spencer) Quinn; 17 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rulon Niederer; his nephew, Nate Mason; his favorite dog Twister and grand-dog Libbie; and White Cat.
