John Henry Niederer, Jr. (78), known as Johnny to his siblings and Jack to his many friends, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025.
He was born in Jersey City, NJ on June 06, 1946, the first child to the late John Henry Niederer and Mary Keating Niederer. He was predeceased by three brothers, James, Martin and Walter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laurie, his daughter, Julie, and his daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and John Buzzoni. He is also survived by his brother, Charles and five sisters, Emily, Caroline, Eileen, Mary Ann and Elizabeth.
John enjoyed a long career as a systems analyst in commercial banking for companies such as Computer Horizons, Bankers Trust and National Westminster Bank. In addition to leading bank mergers and critical projects such as the Y2K initiative, John developed friendships with his peers that have lasted for decades.
In retirement, John focused his energy on the needs of the less fortunate in his community. He served as Treasurer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Bluffton for 14 years. Under his leadership, the organization flourished and his legacy will be long remembered.
John devoted his life to his family and his faith, and he never stopped rooting for the New York Yankees.
A memorial mass will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Dr., Bluffton.
