David Carl O'Donnell 80 of Colo, Iowa passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.
David was born on July 24, 1944 to Richard F and Margery C. (Hanson) O'Donnell at Woods Hospital in State Center, Iowa. David graduated from Colo High School in 1962. He then joined the Army Reserves and served our country for the next six years. On October 22, 1988 he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Clark.
David farmed most of his life and could be found on his favorite International red tractor. When younger he was in 4-H and showed cattle and lambs where he achieved the prize of grand champion for his lambs. David also worked at Donnelly Marketing and Print Graphic Design in Nevada where he retired in 2011. Along with his love of red tractors were his clubs that he belonged to such as the Red Tractor Club. He acquired an extensive collection of over 15 red tractors. Of all of these his love of family, especially his grandchildren were among the most important things to him and what he took pride in.
Those left to cherish David are his wife Sue of Colo: step -children, Jerry Blink of Rhodes, Iowa, Carl Blink of Brooklyn, Iowa and Andy (Traci) Blink of State Center, Iowa; grandchildren, Thomas, Ashleigh, Mathew and Malorie as well as 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert O'Donnell of Corydon, Iowa, Dennis O'Donnell of Colo, Iowa and sisters, Eileen ( Doug) Honeck of State Center, Iowa and Barbara (David) Glass of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and sister in-law Lynn Anderson of Ames, Iowa
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for a charity to be chosen at a later date.
