David Allen Phelphs, age 73, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed from this life on August 18, 2025, at his home.

Born on April 9, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, David was the son of George and Catherine Camilla (Fowler) Phelphs. He proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War.

David spent much of his working life as a Heavy Equipment Operator, a job he performed with skill and dedication for his former employer and close friend, Arty Lillpop. Outside of work, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures-motorcycle riding, playing poker, fishing, and camping.

David is preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Amy; and two lifelong friends, Joe Rainbolt and Ray Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tammy (Nolot) Phelphs, who stood by his side throughout his illness. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Barb); nieces Angel and Courtney; nephews Dennis and Christopher (Cindy); one daughter, Lisa; seven great-nephews and four great-nieces; and his faithful canine companion, JoJo.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, cremation arrangements are being handled by Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dave's caregiver, Sherry Smith, and his hospice nurse, Amanda, for their compassionate and devoted care during his final days.
