David Pruitt, Jr. Obituary
David L. Pruitt, Jr. was born to the union of David L. Pruitt and Ina Doris Jean Pruitt on June 25, 1975, in South Bend, Indiana.
David graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, and later attended St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana. David played semi-pro football for Stampede as well as coached for the Clay High School football team. He also worked for the city of South Bend in Sanitation and also as a bus driver for the South Bend Community School Corporation. David later became an entrepreneur establishing his company Stampede LLC. A man of many talents as he provided services including Trucking, Lawn Service, and Real Estate.
Cherishing his loving memories are two daughters: Aaliyah Pruitt of Mishawaka, IN and Elaiyah Pruitt of Elkhart, IN. Six sons: John Pruitt of Fort Wayne, IN, Addae Richardson of Atlanta, GA, Thaias Burris of South Bend, IN, Brendon Pruitt of North Carolina, David Pruitt of San Marcos, TX, and Izaac Baiz of Niles, MI. His father, David (Katrina) Pruitt Sr., his mother Ina (Bruce) Harris both of South Bend, IN. Sisters Latoya Pruitt of Minneapolis, MN, Deloris Harris of South Bend, IN, and Jamillah (Ron) Harris-Mitchem of Mishawaka, IN., his brothers Cory Pruitt of South bend, IN., Bruce (Shannon) Harris Jr. of Fisher, IN., and Adrian Harris of South Bend, IN. He will also be missed by eleven grandchildren, a special friend, Jenni Shultz and a bonus mom, Julianne Morrell. Along with a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding David in death are his paternal grandparents, Minor and Ethel Pruitt, maternal grandmother, Ina Jean Hill, maternal great-grandmother Pearl Stuckey, brother, Antoine Pruitt, Uncles, Fred and Carl Pruitt, Robert Stuckey and Keith Hill and Aunt Diane Pruitt.
David never met a stranger. It was a challenge going places with him because he knew so many people that would stop to communicate. David loved his family, especially his grandkids and his Aunt Willa B. David was funny, giving, a hard worker, and charismatic. He loved playing football, basketball, baseball and coaching. David was always singing and liked to dance.
Most importantly, David had a relationship with God. He would tell his mom that "He and God has an understanding!" David will be greatly missed. He may not be with us physically, but his spirit continues to dwell in the hearts of those who loved him.
Services For David will be held 1 P.M Friday August 9, 2024 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 313 Ohio Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601 with burial follow at Highland Cemetery. Pastor Darren Washington will bring the Word. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary Inc.

I am deeply saddened to hear of David's passing. For many years, he'd drop by the house or the 2nd floor of the County City building just to say Hi to me or my kids. His smile and laughter will always be remembered. He could uplift anyone's spirits and change their mood for the better. God bless his soul. My heart and prayers are with his loving family and friends during this difficult time.

We meet David when we were neighbors on Grant Street 15 plus years ago.Dave had a Huge Heart and would do anything he could to help those he cared about. I know the many young men he coached thought the world of him. The world is a little less bright without him. Our deepest condolences to his family ! Your all in our prayers .

I have known David almost my entire life..later in our adult years we become family. My youngest son is his cousin. He helped us with a roof over our heads when in need took a bullet in the butt for my son his cousin from a random drive by when we were in his home for that I am forever grateful my son is not 14 years old he was around 4 or5 when that bullet would of went right through his little skull and David jumped in front of him. My older sons were very close with his 1 of his sons ..a lifetime of memories good and bad!!! Still can't believe this is true rest in peace Lil David we love you

I remember a day back in high school, we were going to be late getting to school for a game. I stopped to pick David up but he wasn't ready. his socks were still wet, so he threw them in the microwave, because we had to go. Coach Hadaway didn't like players not being on time. We learned that microwaving wet socks is not a good way to dry them when there was a small fire and the inside of the microwave melted. The world is a better place, because David was in it. My life was better because I could call him my friend.
