Funeral services for David Ramirez, 63 of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Javier Toscano officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. The Ramirez family will be present for visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
David C. Ramirez was born on September 12, 1961 in Shelton, Nebraska the son of Guadalupe Ramirez and Lucia (Chavez) Ramirez. He was united in marriage to his beautiful wife Janie (Basquez) Ramirez on November 3, 1984 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Giddings, Texas. David worked as a supply Manager for Phillips 66 and Enerflex for numerous years. He was a member of the Giddings Volunteer Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family wholeheartedly and spending time with his grandchildren, "Grandpas little boy" and his "pretty girl". He looked forward to his annual Frio River trip with his family, dove hunting in Pearsall and deer hunting in Brackettville. David could commonly be found drinking beer for "Sunday funday" and watching the Dallas Cowboys Football games and sitting on the porch drinking coffee. His greatest joy in life was taking care of his family and friends.
David passed away at Ascension Seton Hays - Kyle, Texas, surrounded by his family and loved ones, during the afternoon hours of Friday, January 17, 2025
He was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Ramirez; mother-in -law and father-in-law, Josephine and Daniel Basquez, and brother-in-law, Vincent Flores.
David is survived by his wife, Janie Ramirez of Giddings; four children, Crespina Ramirez & Mario Rodea of Giddings, Nathan Ramirez & Kadra Schimank of Giddings, Rien Ramirez of Giddings and Kasey Ramirez of Giddings; grandchildren, Ellodie Ramirez of Giddings and Lincoln Ramirez of Giddings; mother, Lucia Ramirez of Pearsall; five siblings, Hector & Marisol Ramirez of Giddings, Martha & Felix Palacio of Pearsall, Abel Ramirez and wife Isebel of Cotulla, Maryann & David Perez of Pearsall and Norma Ramirez of Dilley; sisters in-law, Stella Basquez of Giddings, Lupe Flores of Giddings and Mary Wilson of Giddings as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Rien Ramirez, Kasey Ramirez, Mario Rodea, Andrew Flores, Ricky Hernandez Jr, James Basquez, Carlos Rodea and Jon Martinez; Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Wilson, Ellodie Ramirez, Zeke Cornejo, John Wilkerson, Henry Rodriguez, Jose Garza, Mark Barron, Jerry Rhodes and Lincoln Ramirez.
Memorials may be made to St. Margaret Catholic Church or to the charity of one's choice.
