David Recker, 68, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at home with his family by his side. Dave was born on April 24, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Robert Recker and Marilyn (Jamieson) Recker. Dave was the first pediatric open heart surgery patient in the state of Michigan at Henry Ford Hospital in 1966. He graduated from Chippewa hills High School with the class of 1974. Dave worked on the family farm in Mt. Pleasant, for his entire life. Recker Family Farms was very special to him. In July of 1974, Dave married Diana Watson, their marriage was blessed with three children, Danielle, Stacy and Seth. On March 31, 1995, he married the love of his life, Brenda Thering, in Alma. Together they enjoyed spending time with their family. Dave was always building something for a future family gathering. Which made him a loyal customer of Home Depot. He was known as the family joker and will be missed tremendously by so many. Dave is survived by his wife, Brenda; mother, Marilyn Recker; children, Danielle (Trevor) Britten of Remus, Stacy Recker of Rosebush, Seth (Lindsey Bender) Recker of Spring Lake, Melissa (Howard) Foster of Blanchard, Kelsi Karcher of Lake Isabella, and Courtney (Codee) Preston of Blanchard; 12 grandchildren, Sean, Brennen, Tanner, Gunnar, Cason, Finley, Gage, Lane, Grant, Gavi, Natalie, and Gus; siblings, Richard Recker of Mt. Pleasant, Peg Schafer of Mt. Pleasant, Steven (Betty) Recker of Remus and Jeffrey (Diane) Recker of Weidman. He is preceded in death by his father; and sister-in-law, Debra Recker. A funeral service for Dave will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home at 12:00 pm with Rebecca Hamilton officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to service. Immediately following the services, there will be a luncheon served in the Lincoln Reception Center. (attached to the Funeral Home) In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Wishes of Family. Following the services, per David's wishes, cremation will take place and his ashes will be interred in the Broomfield Township Cemetery.
