David L. Reese
February 4, 1947 - February 7, 2025
Ogden, Utah
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David L. Reese, who peacefully passed away at home in Ogden, Utah, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 78.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his enthusiasm for life and his devotion to his family and community. Born in Brigham City Utah, David spent much of his life living in Ogden, Utah, and over the years, lived in Idaho, Wyoming, California, and Louisiana. His travels gave him a unique perspective on life, and he made lasting friendships in every place he called home.
David attended Box Elder High School before transitioning to Job Corps, where he gained valuable skills and began building the foundation for his future. He later attended Weber State University and earned several certifications from Ogden Weber Technical College, further expanding his expertise and knowledge. David also served in the United States Navy.
David married Norma Marodo on July 7, 1971, and later divorced. He then married the love of his life, Lois Jean Craghead, on September 13, 1977. In the summer of 1994, their love was solemnized in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple, where they remained committed to each other for 50 years until his passing.
Throughout his career, David worked as a machinist, flagger, and demolitions expert. He also owned and operated several small businesses.
In addition to his work, David was passionate about serving others. He spent several years working within the Special Needs Scouting program, where he held several important roles. His dedication to helping young people with special needs was a testament to his caring and compassionate nature.
David also had a lifelong love of motorcycles and cars. He spent countless hours building, modifying, racing, and customizing vehicles. A frequent visitor to automotive car shows, he enjoyed both viewing the latest cars and connecting with others who shared his passion.
David cherished spending time with his family, especially on camping trips where he created lasting memories around the campfire. He was also an expert at Dutch Oven style cooking. In his free time, David enjoyed fishing with his father, socializing, playing cards, billiards and darts, he was known for his competitive spirit and friendly demeanor.
David was preceded in death by his father LouDell Reese, his mother Mary Alta Baker, his brother Larry Reese, and his grandson Joshua Reese.
He is survived by his dear wife Lois Jean Craghead Reese; daughters Brandy McDonald, Marcy Wood, and Cami Alesha Metcalfe; sons Travis Reese and Michael Caldwell; several grand and great grandchildren, four sisters, five brothers, and his stepmother Dorothy Wach Reese. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to express special thanks to Enhabit Hospice Care, Home Helpers (Paula), the LDS Wilson Second Ward, Megan Chase, and all the family and friends who offered their support and love until the end. Your kindness and care made a meaningful difference.
A Memorial Service to honor David's life will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the Wilson 2nd Ward church building, 2333 South 2700 West, West Haven, Utah, with a visitation prior to the service from 4:00 – 4:45 p.m. also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and medical bills.
David's memory will live on through the love he shared with his family, the kindness he extended to his friends, and the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
