Mason Steve Caballero, age 16, of Ogden Utah, was taken too early from this life, on October 7, 2025.
Mason “Skin” “Mace” was born on August 15, 2009, to Leslie and Alex Caballero. What do you say about a beautiful young man that was stolen from everyone who loved him?
You say he was the best friend to his younger brother Kashton, whom he looked out for and guided. You remember he was a loving and devoted son, sibling, grandson, cousin, nephew, uncle, and friend. He was polite and kind, always saying "Yes Sir" and “Yes Ma'am."
You say that Mason was attending Ogden-Weber Technical College and was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, on top of regular attendance to Ben Lomond High School, where he had many friends.
What you do, we all do, is share the memories. The big and the small. How Mason got the nickname Skin from playing slither.io with his brothers and felt so much pride that it seemed to overtake his given name. How he could eat an entire rotisserie chicken as an after-school snack. His heart was huge, and he loved sharing music and going to movies with his brothers. Mason gave the best hugs, coming and going. We remember that he was humble, generous, and so so chill.
We also remember that he was goofy and clever. He liked his drinks warm, and his food cold. When Mace was very little, he preferred to cart around his father's tools instead of playing with ordinary toys and also ran around in his underwear pretending to know the lyrics to Disturbed.
What you can say about this marvelous young man is that he lived a gloriously good life, full of love and will be held in the hearts of all who loved him.
Mason is survived by his parents, Alex and Leslie Caballero; his siblings, Trysten Caballero, Brynden (Makenna) Caballero, Taysie (Marqus) Godfrey, Oaklie Payne, Jackson Payne, Dylen Caballero, and Kashton Caballero; and his grandparents, Alejandro and Juanita Caballero, and Ann Barton.
Mason was preceded in death by his brother, Hunter Payne and his grandfather, Steve Barton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
